“Speziainbici” equips the user with a personal electric id card which can always be kept handy. The card allows the cyclist to use a bicycle whenever he wants and return it to any cycle-parking station in the city that has a free space.

The aim is to discourage citizens in using their own private transport, while encouraging sustainable alternatives, as bicycle: perfect for short trips to the town center while being fun and healthy at the same time and reducing automobile traffic, city smog and noise pollution over the short and long term.

Due to geomorphological structure of the urban area (80% of the entire population and all the services are on a flat area) and thanks to the good weather all along the year, La Spezia has all requested features to become a ‘cycling city’.

There are 12 bike stations, located throughout the city, where you can  take your bike with an electronic card.

How to get the electronic card
By presenting a valid identity document  and signing the service use contract, you will be given an electronic id card. The service registration costs 15 €/year, including 5€ of recharge to use the service immediately. You will be also given a personal paddock, to secure the bike away form parkings racks.

2. use cost:
a) First hour: FREE
b) Second hour: 0,50 €
c) Third hour: 1 €
d) 2 € for each successive hour after that.
